~FCN Class Assignment #2~ Tell about someone who has inspired you.
Let me share with you my dear friend Sheila Rose, she has been such an inspiration to me. Sheila has known me my whole life. She lived right next door since I was first born and was like a 2nd mother to me. Sheila wasn't like most moms. As a child,Sheila had polio, and because of this she was disabled. It left her very little use of her legs and with time completely dependent upon a wheelchair. However ,Sheila didn't dwell on her disabilities, but on her abilities. She didn't blame God like some might, but instead praised and thanked God for everything he brought her through. She had a little girl of her own (my best friend Stacy) and was a single mom.She couldn't even drive, but she managed. She was so amazing, because despite her disability she managed to take care of her daughter and her home all by herself ,with very little outside help. This amazed me as a child and even as an adult. She was always happy, always had something kind to say, and always smiling. She loved us two girls more than anything in this world. Even though I wasn't her child, I could feel her love and I knew she cared for me deeply. She loved everybody and she loved God. She spent so much time with us and gave us so much attention and love. She spent hours telling us stories, writing us letters, writing us poems...she still does today. Although we now lives states apart and I'm in my 30's , It's nothing to go to the mailbox and find a letter, poem, or gift from my 2nd mom...and that'swhat she refers to herself as...my 2nd mom. She is so very thoughtful and has always been. She taught me about Jesus and how he died for me on the cross. She later did learn to drive and she carried us to church on Sunday mornings. It was one of those Sunday mornings that I found the Lord and was saved. She didn't give birth to me,but I give her credit for my second birth. Sheila is one of the most amazing women I've ever known. The impact she made on my life has been life changing. I can't even tell you how much she touched my life and how precious she is to me...she is my inspiration. ~Sandy Howell May 5 2006~
~*Extra Credit*~ List ways that your mom is like or not like you.
Let me tell you about my Mother:) My Mom and I have grown closer through the years.I have great appreciation and respect for my Mother. 1. We are almost exact opposites in our likes and dislikes. But that has never changed our relationship. We are just different and we've always respected each other's differences. 2. My Mother is a very hard worker and spent a lot of time in school and worked very hard to get to where she is today. She has always worked outside the home...I have always been a stay-at-home mom. I've always felt that is where God wants me to be. 3.My Mother loves her kids and grandkids very much, but she is not crazy about other kids. However, I'm exact opposite. I have five and one foster child that I dearly love. My home has always been filled with tons of children and I enjoy it and couldn't imagine my life any other way. 4.My Mother likes to be alone and she is very quiet...I don't know what quiet is like and alone I've never been. I've always got someone around and my house is ALWAYS loud. 5.My Mother is very neat. She visits the beauty shop every Friday to have her hair done. She takes a lot of pride in her looks. She always keeps her nails done too. I'd rather do my own hair, although I normally just pull it up in a pony-tail and go. I've never had my nails done nor laid in a tanning bed. I just don't get into things like that. I can find other things to spend my time and money on...like my kids:) 6.My Mother has always kept a clean home. She is very picky about her house and likes orginization. While growing up, my Mother kept our home perfect at all times...which I don't know how she did that. I try so hard to be like my Mom in this way, but with 6 kids I always have clothes to fold, one load in the wash, one in the dryer, and my house is very much lived in...toys are everywhere and It's very hard to organize with so many hands to move stuff around, but I try really hard. I wish I could keep my home like my mom did when I was a child. 7.My Mother minds her own business ALL the time. She doesn't watch much TV and she would rather be left alone with a good book. She doesn't talk on the phone much and she NEVER gossips. She is very easy going and often lets others run over her...unlike me. I love everyone and will do anything for ANYBODY ,but enough is enough ,and after a while I'll get fed up, and I'll let you know it. Mom's very tender hearted and I'm tender hearted in some ways, but I am also strong and I don't mind standing up for what is right...especially when it comes to my family and kids. 8.My Mother worries about "The rainy Days" and puts almost all of her money in savings and can't stand to spend money on anything. I save for what we need and put some away too, but I don't mind spending money on things we want or need.. I don't mind spending money on vacations, going out to eat, doing things with my kids, etc....I guess I don't mind spending money on making memories, that I'll always cherish. Yes, we are very different ...almost exact opposite. Except for our eyes, hair color, skin, and family we are not alike, but it really doesn't matter. We have great appreciation, respect, and love, and that is all that really does matters.
