Safety
Our children's safety is the most important thing to most parents, I spend a lot of time keeping up to date on childproofing, safety standards, recalls and more. I am always looking for a website to help me with which carseat is safer, how to adjust a bike helmet to fit properly, which items have been recalled, and so much more. There are always other parents online wondering where they can get recall information, carseat safety information or other safety information so I have decided to throw a safety links page together. I don't have a lot of time right now since my daughter is growing so fast, so for now I am just throwing this together, I will come back and spruce it up and update it when I can and as needed. Although this isn't a very aesthetically pleasing page, I hope it can help to keep a child you know safe.
I will start with some general safety websites, I have spent many hours trying to find the "right" website for the information I need at the time, you do a web search and end up with a million, sometimes you get lucky and the first site listed is what you need, other times you may spend hours looking and still not find it, so I am going to include a brief description, if needed, w/ these links.
Consumer Product Safety Commission, among other things, this site keeps the most up to date listing of product recalls
Safe Kids, lots of carseat information
Child Passenger Safety Advocacy
The Danny Foundation, crib safety
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, includes car and carseat safety information as well as crash test results
Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute, includes skating helmet info and child bike carrier info
Consumer Reports, contains ratings of childrens products and so much more, including safety ratings. To access info though you need to be registered member which costs $2.95 a month
Consumer Guide, similiar to Consumer Reports though free access
Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association
Comprehensive product recalls and safety warnings includes recall information for ALL categories and has a e-mailing feature
