| Fluorescent spectrum From the generally white color of most scheelite fluorescence, you'd expect a fairly broad spectrum, and in fact that is what you see. However, note the two distinct bands on the red/yellow end of the spectrum and a similar, though not as distinct, band in the blue. Perhaps these could be used to identify the tungstate group (which is responsible for the fluorescence of scheelite) in other minerals, in much the same way the banding seen in the green portion of the sectrum identifies uranium-activated fluorescence. |
