I started this hike early on a winter morning with only the light of the moon (and my flashlight) to guide me. I made it to the top of Ryan Mountain in Joshua Tree before the sun had risen and spent some chilly moments waiting for the sunrise. When the sun began to rise, I forgot all about the cold and enjoyed the warmth of a spectacular sunrise.
