the Hounslow Heath
Tryaned Band
“With the Horse and By the Blade”
In the 1500 and 1600’s in England there were groups that were formed
by the leadership and funds of a
private person, these groups were loyal to King and country
and swore an oath to protect the Royalty
should they pass through their lands.
These groups were trained in rapier
and musket, drills and formations.
Today we call these groups Militia
units. Back then they were called Trayned Bands.
This is the accounts of one such Band
that was located
in the rural country side just outside
the town of Hounslow, England.
The Hounslow Heath Trayned Band.
For purposes in the SCA our group is
located in the
Shire of Danescombe,
Principality of Tir Righ,
Kingdom of An Tir

Above is
the portrait is of Madame de Saint-Baslemont de Neuville,
who through rapier and pistol did successfully
defend her manor house during the years 1638-1640.
It is from
this amazing lady that I, Captain Molly Modine,
do take inspiration from, in the raising and managing
of my household and leading my Trayned Band.
Which is comprised of a Company of Foote and a Company of
Horse.
This website is home for the Personal Accounts of our
Household, a historical look at Trayned Bands,
English Highwaymen and Historical Pirates. The local SCA group I belong to
is the Shire of Danescombe which is located in Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. This site is under
going massive reworking and I have really limited personal time to work on
it, so I apologize in advance to any missing pages or lost links.
