| Write a couple paragraphs describing the focus and content of this website. Also explain how this is applicable to what we were studying.
The main focus of this site was about the fighting between the United States and Korea, and the Soviet Union against China. The united states made a surprise attack on the North Koreans when some of the Koreans were pushed to the South and losing hope. The North Koreans were pushed out of Korea by the Americans. So then China joined the war. The Korean war turned into a limited war when Seoul was captured. Both of the sides thought that they were going to win. The United States thought they were going to be able to beat the North Koreans and push them behind the thirty eighth parallel, which they did end up doing in 1952. North and South Korea signed an agreement called the cease fire agreement. There was about five million deaths and most important fact was that the communist China was a not a force to be messed with. The next main focus was on Vietnam War. After World War II the French wanted to fight for independence of the colonies which they had captured. The most famous of these battles was the Vietnam War. They wanted to keep this colony because of the iron and coal mines in the north and the rubber and rice in the south. The French wanted to keep these items so bad that they would not let Vietnam become independent. War was declared. But it did not last very long because Vietnam was not supported by its people. The people thought that it would be worth all of the deaths of family members and friends. The United States wanted to prevent the domino effect in Asia. This all relates to what we are studying in class because we are learning about the Cold war. The two battles on the website were slightly like the Cold War in that the Cold War was between the east and the west democracies. |
