Pretend you are president Truman and you are writing your autobiography. You have just come to the chapter on the decision to drop the atomic bomb. Describe how difficult it was(cons) but also defend your decision (pros).

Any time someone has to make a harsh judgement there are always pros and cons to the situation. The idea of dropping an atomic bomb was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I did not want to endanger innocent peoples lives or children for that matter. We did not want to kill the innocent. Another thing that made my decision even harder was that the atomic bomb was then introduced to neighboring nations and we were afraid other countries might start using them. We also did not want to do something so harsh because they would want to come back even harder by killing some of our innocent people, probably more to make a larger impact. On Ausust 6, 1945 I ordered the bomb to be dropped. It affected about 4 miles in area and killed about 70,000 people. But it was a good decision because I needed to do whatever was best for the country. It was also a pretty fair decision although people believe otherwise, because we warned them and asked them to surrender. If we did not use the atomic bomb, they might have come back at us even harder, knowing that we would not fight back because we did not want to hurt the innocent in their country.
