Ringo Starr
Home
Richard Starkey was born on July 7th, 1940 in Liverpool. He was born to the same type of family as John, a word working class family. His father left when he was three but his mom got over that and remarried. He was ill a lot with a number of different illnesses in his childhood. This limited his education because of the years of missed school. He left school at age 15. After many jobs that didn't last, he became a drummer for Rorty Storm and the Hurricanes. That is when he changed his name to Ringo Starr. They were a popular local band and even shared the bill with the Beatles. The Beatles did not like their drummer, Pete Best, and thought it was time for a change so the Beatles thought of Ringo and decided to give him a try. Ringo joined in August 1962. Even if he was not liked at first, he was quickly accepted by the fans. In June 1964 Ringo had some health problems and was hospitalized. Luckily he recovered.
Ringo married Maureen Cox. They had three children together. Their names are  Zak, Jason, and Lee. For the rest of the Beatles' years together not much happened for Ringo but he stayed happy and possitive. When the band began to fall apart, Ringo was so angry he stormed out of a session for the White Album. Ringo, instead of working on a solo album, he worked on his acting. His solo career boosted in 1972. In 1989 Ringo had financial problems but fixed it and worked throught it.  Paul, George, and Ringo got back together and they  did the Anthology. Soon he got on the right track and continues to tour and sing. He is still working today.
