John Winston Lennon was born on October 9th, 1940, in Liverpool. His family was trouble and in the working class. His father deserted him and his mother when he was three years old. Because of that he was sent to live with his aunt. She lived in the suburb of Woolton. There he was very rebellious, some examples of this are frequently skipping school, doodling instead of studying. He left school at age 16. He did this after his aunt talked the headmaster into writing a recommendation to Liverpool Art Collage. There he bought a guitar and started a skiffle band in 1957. |

Over those years the band went from the Quarrymen to The Beatles. He was one of the main song writers of the band. Paul McCartney was the other one. John led the group into drug use during the mid 60s. Shortly after the Beatles formed he married, school classmate, Cynthia Powell. They had one son together. His name was Julian Lennon and he was born in 1963. Their marriage was not as smooth as it could have been. Cynthia divorced John in 1968. This help John and Yoko Ono, who have been openly dating even before the divorce. Soon after the Beatles released the White Album, John and Yoko released the album Two Virgins. This is when reporters said the Yoko was "controlling" him. She was also accused of causing trouble to the Beatles. |

In the spring of 1969 Yoko and John went on a honeymoon to Europe where they got married in Gilraltar on March 20th. When they returned in May Yoko had a miscarriage. This was the first of many. The more John hung out with Yoko then more he separated himself from the Beatles. In 1969 he told the group that he had quit the band. After shaky years of marriage that resolved and on John's birthday (october 9th) Yoko gave birth to their first child together named Sean. In 1976 John retired from music to raise his child and tend the house. While leaving his apartment on December 8th, John was approached by a corrupt-looking fan who requested an autograph. When John returned home several hours later, the fan was still outside his apartment. That is when the fan shot John several times. He died minutes later, and the crazed fan, Mark David Chapman, was quickly arrested. He is missed by many. |
