Chapter 4

Hailee turned over and looked at the clock, she rubbed her eyes and sat up. She was going to be late for school if she didnt get out of bed at that moment. She could hear Taylor and Tyler running around and screaming as JC chased after them. She opened her bedroom door and was about to walk out when Taylor grabbed onto her leg and held her in place.

HELP! Daddy is going to get me! The little girl screamed with joy in her voice as she squealed when JC came running towards them with Tyler flung over his shoulder; him bouncing up and down with each step his father took.

Hailee pulled Taylors arms from her leg and started to walk towards the bathroom. She wasnt in the mood to play with them; she didnt even like them that much.

Hailee, take a quick shower, breakfast is almost ready. JC yelled through the door as he picked Taylor up and flung her over his empty shoulder and walked down stairs where Adrea was, making breakfast. Shes getting that attitude again. JC stated as he put Tyler and Taylor down and putting their food in front of them at the table.

When does she not have that attitude? Adrea shrugged grabbing the orange juice out of the refrigerator.

You need to talk to her about sneaking out, about going to that party on Friday, the one where Justin had to pick her, Jonathan and her friends up because they were so drunk they could barely walk. JC said sitting down and taking a bit of his eggs.

Adrea turned around and looked at her husband and two kids, who were going to their first day of kindergarten that day.

You can talk to her about it just as well as I can. She stated turning the stove off.

JC slammed his hand down on the table and dropped his fork on the plate with a loud clank.

You know damn well she wont listen to me. You know why too, because Im not her father. You are her mother; you need to do something about it. She doesnt listen to me, or you and you are her mother. Shes off every weekend, doing God knows what with God knows who, and you want me, someone who is trying to be her father, someone she wont listen to, me of all people to talk to her, when you are her own mother! JC snapped standing up, than sitting back down again.

Please dont start this again, at least not today. Adrea whispered her back to JC as she looked down at the pan on the stove with the rest of the cooked eggs.

I dont like how she is acting, Im getting sick of acting like I dont notice. Do something about it Adrea, or Im kicking her out. JC hissed taking another bit of his food, smiling at Taylor and Tyler who were talking about their first day of school that was going to happen soon.

Adrea took a deep breath and let it out slowly; she turned around and looked at JC and the twins. They looked just like their father; they were perfect like him too. Her eyes drifted to where Hailee had walked in the room. She was wearing a short skirt and a spaghetti-strapped shirt, which was low cut in the front, her hair was pulled up into pigtails. Adrea closed her eyes and than reopened them again.

Hailee, you are not wearing that to school. JC stated looking at her as she sat down to eat.

Yes I am. She glared putting a fork full of eggs and hash browns in her mouth.

Taylor, Tyler go put your coats on. JC said as the two of them ran into the front room to put their coats on. You arent leaving the house looking like a hooker. Put some clothes on. JC stated more firmly taking a drink of his orange juice and standing up.

You arent my father, you arent telling me what to wear. I can wear whatever I want to wear, when I want to wear. Hailee snapped never taking her eyes away from JCs.

JC turned to Adrea; I mean it. He hissed pointing at her as he walked into the front room.

Hailee, just change into something more appropriate and come home right after school. Right after school, I mean it. Adrea sighed as she walked into the front room and grabbed her coat.

Adrea took Taylors hand in hers and walked out the front door, followed by JC who was holding Tylers hand. They each got into the car, and drove off to the school, nothing was said between JC and Adrea, Tyler and Taylor were talking about what they thought school was going to be like.

Adrea couldnt take them in, she didnt want them to go to school, and she didnt want them to grow up. She wanted them to be her little babies the rest of their lives. JC ran across the street and jumped back in the car.

Dont you ever yell at me in front of them ever again. Adrea glared at JC from her seat in the car as they drove back to the house. I dont care how pissed off you are about what Hailee has done, what I have done. If you ever raise your voice to me or anyone in front of them again, so help me G

So help you God what? Youll leave me? JC snapped turning a corner. Im sick of you standing up for her Adrea! You dont want Taylor growing up thinking she can act the way Hailee is do you? JC asked turning another corner. I am not going to let my kids grow up thinking they can get away with whatever they want. JC added stopping at a red light.

Damn it JC! She wont listen to you or me! Okay, I dont know what is going on with her, maybe shell grow out of this. If we get on her case about what to wear and how to act shell just act out even more! If you seemed to have forgotten what happened last time! Adrea hissed closing her eyes on the memories of losing her and JCs first baby because of Hailee acting out.

How much worse can she fucking get? JC yelled pulling into their driveway.

Shes a very smart kid JC, maybe that is whats wrong. I know she wouldnt ever do drugs, I mean think about it. She is a straight A student, captain of the softball team, star player of the softball team. Maybe shell grow out of what ever thing she is in, we cant push her. Adrea sighed looking down at her lap.

If you go through her stuff, how much you want to bet shes already doing drugs. JC snapped slamming the car door and walking into the house.

JC grabbed the phone and walked into the study and slammed the door shut just before the person on the other end answered the phone.

I dont know what to do. JCs voice got soft as he talked to his mom on the other end. Now we are fighting about things. He added rubbing this temple with his free hand.

Joshua, your kids are five years old. Hailee is 17; they wont even remember what she was like by the time they are that age. Shell be in college this time next year, and you wont have to worry about Taylor trying to be like Hailee. Karen soothed

Its not just that! I mean, I truly believe she is doing drugs. Of course Adrea will have a fucking fit if I suggest we look through Hailees things. Shell come up with some bull shit about boundaries and privacy of our kids. JC sighed

Adrea would be right. You just cant go through Hailees things. You need to talk to her about things, sit her down and just talk to her. Karen noted

Talking to her isnt even an option. I say something and she says she dont have to listen to me because Im not her father. JC said looking up.

That is where she is wrong. Youve been a father to her for many years. You are the man of the house, you put your foot down. Karen stated, Now let me talk to my daughter-in-law. She added
