THE PROLOGUE
Ethan stared out the window of his 4th floor apartment for what seemes like the 800th time ine the past hour. He hated rainy days. He hated all days. Ever since that day that he lost everything. He tried not to think about it anymore. It was all in the past, a past that he had left behind him many years ago.
He sighed as he watched the street below. He had been living in Parisnow for five years. Five long years. He knew barely anyone. And he liked in that way. Whenever he go too close to anyone he ended up getting hurt. And he refused to get hurt anymore.
Every now and then his thoughts would drift back to Harmony, and Theresa. He knew he had hurt her when he had left but he didn't know how to explain to her why he had to go, and leave her behind, so he just left. Packed his bags without so much as a backward glance, hopped on the first available flight and he was gone.
He didn't realize he'd stay away this long. But he found it impossible to go back. Would anything be any different? When he went home would Julian still be his father? Would Sheridan still be his aunt? Would Theresa be waiting for him? He knew the answer to all those questions, a one syllable word - no. As much as he'd like to go home and pretend that he hadn't spent the last five years in a different country, hadn't found out that Sam Bennett was his father and not Julian Crane...but he knew that was not to be. He knew that if he went back to Harmony, everything would be different. His father would be Sam, not Julian, Sheridan wouldnt be his aunt, and Theresa wouldn't be there for him. Theresa...as always his thoughts ended with her. He had tried to forget her for her sake and move on, but he found it impossible. She was always there. On his subconscious.
Sometimes he found himself drawn to the pictures he had of her and he would just stare at them for what seemed like hours. He would lose himself in her exquisite eyes, her beautiful smile, her dainty body. And sometimes a tear would make its way down his ceek, but he would brush it away quickly and put all her photos away.
He had dated a few women in th past few years, but he found himself always comparing them to Theresa. He had to get out of his apartment or he'd go mad. He grabbed his jacket and headed out the door.
He thought about going to grab a bite to eat but rejected the idea almost immediately. He hated eating out alone. He hopped into his car and decided to just drive.
He drove aimlessly for about an hour and decided to grab some take out and head home. He stopped at a little chinese restaurant and ordered. While he was waiting he decided to go next door and grab the paper so he'd have something to occupy himself with when he got home.

He finished eating and picked up the paper, flipping to the international news. Nothing much happening on his side of the world. He mindlessly flipped through to the end when he spotted a picture in the society section.
The caption read 'Crane Heiress to Wed'. The article was brief but it said enough. Sheridan was in Paris for her wedding preparations. She was engaged to Luis.
