  Standing Committees 

GENERAL PURPOSES
To consider and report on:

a)  All matters relating to parking meters in the City;
b)  Matters pertaining to improvement of roads, bridges, main water courses.
c)  All other matters which do not fall within other committees.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
To consider and report on:

a)  All financial matters of the Corporation;
b)  All establishment matters�
c)  All matters relating to the Corporation�s property at Woodbrook and elsewhere;
d)  All claims for and against the Corporation and related matters;
e)  The purchase and sale of stores and related matters;
f)   Such other matters as the Council may from time to time decide.
g)  Sale of properties for recovery of rates and charges.

INSTITUTIONS COMMITTEE
To consider and report on:

a)  All matters relating to the Transport and Cleansing Department, the Abattoir and Detention Station, the Markets of the City, and the Workingmen�s Dining Shed, the Crematorium, Cemetaries of the Corporation.
b)  Such other matters as the Council may from time to time decide.

PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE
To consider and report on:

a)  All matters relating to Town Planning, Advertising and Hoardings in the City, the improvement of the Council�s lands at Cocorite and else- where, City Hall and buildings in the City.
b)  Such other matters as the Council may from time to time decide.

WELFARE COMMITTEE
To consider and report on:

a)  All matters relating to the lighting of the streets of the City, of maintenance and use of squares and open spaces in the city, the improvement of Carnival, community centers in the city, public tennis courts and other sporting facilities in the city.
b)  Such other matters as the Council may from time to time decide.

SQUARES COMMITTEE

To deal with applications for the use of squares with delegated powers to decide finally on such matters without reference to the Council.

ASSEMBLY HALL COMMITTEE

To deal with applications for the use of the Assembly hall, with delegated powers to decide finally on such matters without reference to the Council.

ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE

To exercise and carry out all the powers and duties vested and imposed upon the Corporation by Act No. 21 of 1990, (The Municipal Corporations Act) and to deal with all questions relating to the Assessment of any premises by the Corporation to any rate; and it is hereby directed that the acts and proceedings of this committee in respect of any of the powers and duties hereby delegated need not be submitted to the Council for approval, and that all such acts and proceedings shall be done and taken in the name of the Council.

PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE

To consider all matters affecting the Public Health of the City.

DOWNTOWN CARNIVAL COMMITTEE

To consider all matters affecting the Downtown Carnival Celebrations.

SPORTS COMMITTEE

To consider matters relating to the organisation of sporting activities in the City and sporting events by the Corporation.

YOUTH AND CULTURE COMMITTEE

To consider matters relating to affairs involving Youth and Culture.

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE

Matters relating to Personnel.

FESTIVALS COMMITTEE

Management and organisation of all festival activities undertaken by the Corporation to celebrate national festivals.

SECURITY COMMITTEE

  1. Matters relating to Security of City Hall and in the City - Municipal Police Section.

  2. Matters relating to Safety and welfare of employees and institutions of the Corporation.

URP COMMITTEE 

Matters relating to the Unemployment Relief Programme in the City of Port of Spain.
