June 20th Continued........
After we left, Daryn and I were going to go look at another mine I had been to before.  It was farther down the canyon and was gated.  I was just going to show him and then we would look around.  We started out, totally walked past the mine, and then had to backtrack.  While coming back, we came across a small Diamondback Rattlesnake sleeping off to the side.  We had almost stepped on it on our way there, but now we were more cautious.  It didn't rattle though, just slithered away.  Then we found the mine.  As we approached the mine, I noticed something was different than before.  One of the bars to the locking mechanism was broken off and laying inside the mine.  The opening was about 10 inches or so, so Daryn slipped in first.
A nice picture of Daryn behind bars.  You can see that right above his knee there is a break in the bars.  Below is a picture of me standing outside.
Both of us slipped in after this picture, and we started to explore.  We could tell one or two beer parties had been held in the mine recently.  Bats also lived there because they kept flying over our heads.  We hoped the mine was deep since it had been gated, but much to our surprise, the mine was a straight shaft, with no turnoffs whatsoever.  It was kinda boring.  After leaving, Daryn and I made another little trek up a hillside, found nothing, and then returned to my house for a steak and eggs breakfast.  All in all, it was an awesome morning.
