Before taking someone out for the first time, I always get asked the question, "isn't caving dangerous?  Couldn't you die?"  Well, last time I checked, people die from choking on food all of the time so should the human race stop eating.  The answer is that caving rarely posts any considerable danger above any other activity as long as safety is exercised.  Of all of the millions of years the cave may have existed, the only reason the cave would collapse on you while you were in it is if you ate pop rocks and drank a pepsi at the same time.  Caves don't just collapse, they typically collapse after careless people enter them and exercise stupidity.  So, in closing, if you don't exercise caution and a cave collapses on you, whose fault is it?
