| The Trixie Mine near Eureka, Utah | ||||||||||||||||||||
| So, back in the Summer of 2004, Daryn and I decided to go around the Tintic District in search of some good photos and more importantly, some fun. I had been to this mine a few weeks earlier and was astonished at how it literally appeared to have shut down one day, leaving all of the equipment lying around. We went back and got some good pictures. I apologize for the poor quality. PLEASE NOTE: These mines were worked within the past 20 years and are still maintained by Chief Consolidation Mining Co. Do not trespass onto these properties. There are frequent security patrols and if you are caught, you will be prosecuted. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Here is a picture of Daryn on the Trixie's Vent Shaft frame. As you can see, this is one big piece of metal. A strong and very pungents breeze came from the mine. We were told by those who patrol this ground that the mines are flooded and the water is near boiling. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Daryn looked like he was having way too much fun. I decided to climb it too which wasn't as great as Daryn made it look. Talk about easily amused. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Here is a view of the Trixie mine itself. As you can see, this is quite large, since the small grey object in the right part of the picture is a large building for storing supplies. We didn't venture up this one. Quite an amazing structure. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Daryn, in his infinite knowledge, explained how surfing was origionally thought up by miners. | ||||||||||||||||||||
