The Bible (authorship contested by various persons and groups throughout history, as with many works)
A note:  I believe that the old admonition not to discuss politics or religion in polite company
lest one invoke great anger is a very powerful and, in most cases, good suggestion.  So, keeping
this in mind, I am going to reserve a few of my more faithbased beliefs on this collection of writings.
I do so because it is counterproductive to my desire to show the influence this work had on me if
I introduce/relate ideas or beliefs that might offend/anger readers.

The way in which the Bible has influenced me is very synergistic.  I have in my life been introduced
to a variety of views regarding Biblical matters, and have noticed in history classes/everyday
discussion the ability faith has to stir great passion.  I find it to be a highly fascinating phenomena
that a series of words on a page can be used not only by those who heal but also those who murder.
I am not the ultimate authority on morality or orthodoxy/dogmatic inerrancy, so this situation interests
me in it's seemingly paradoxical nature and the light this sheds on the nature of man.  The paradox
of humanity has not, is not currently, nor will not only be limited to matters of faith, or that of those
who feel the Bible is an important, if not the most important, aspect of their spirituality.  I have
presented the Bible since I have been exposed to versions of it and persons who have also
encountered it for the longest period in my life.  I suppose in this sense the influence it has had on me
that I feel comfortable expressing here is a symbolic one:  writing as a passion-ogenic (coined word?)
            activity.
