| Excellent General Forensics Sites: Forensics is a fairly new field gaining in popularity due to sitcoms. Unfortunately, 'real-world' forensics is very different. The sites below consist of basic information on the multiple areas of forensics. This information is meant to explain what the field is about, and give you a starting place for information gathering. To enter into forensics still requires you to take a lot of initiative, but it will definitely be worthwhile! Should you have any questions relating to forensics, please post it on the Forensic Message Board. I will try to answer questions daily, and will always attempt to find supporting websites. Once again, thank you for visiting, and good luck on your future endeavors! Forensic Science Web Page (Great Definitions!) Handbook of Forensic Services (FBI) Zeno's Forensic Site Anil Aggrawal's Forensic Science Fiction Page Accident Reconstruction: Accident Reconstruction is a very intriguing field. It consists of a lot math & problem solving. If you enjoy logic problems, this would probably be a good area! Do not worry if you struglle with math. We all learn and process information differently, and there is someone out there who make math 'click' for you. I can help with basic math, and, although I have not tried it over the internet, I should be able to explain up through Calculus 2. Math is simply a different way of thinking - we can all master it with a bit of work!!! Accident Reconstruction falls under different titles - one is Forensic Engineering (see below). Accident Reconstruction Resource Collection & Preservation of Blood Evidence from Crime Scenes Arson: This area is pretty straight forward - I think we have all heard about fire investigations, and fires suspected of arson. The best definition of arson is at the MSN Encarta Online Reference Manual (linked below). Arson Dogs Arson Task Force Encarta Definition Link Audio Examinations: Have you ever wished you could 'un-erase' a tape?!? That is just one example of the types of work an Audio Examination Expert does. Click below for more info! Information from FBI on Audio Examinations More Great Information! Ballistics: Ballistics falls under multiple titles, including the study of firearms, the study of projectiles, the study of firing characteristics of a weapon, and wound ballitics (see this last one below!). Within these categories are more: interior ballistics, exterior ballistcs, and terminal ballistics. Click away for more knowledge! Ballistics Encarta Definition Blood Stain Pattern Analyst: Last semester, I had the pleasure of listening to a presentation by Norman Reeves (you can find his name among those at the Internationla Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts!). Nothing is better than listening to a perosn talk about the field they love and have worked in their entire life!
