EDTC 550
Information Technology
This course is an overview of information technology and covers hardware, software, programming, operating systems, databases, networking, telecommunications, and the Internet. The purpose is to give a basic understanding of information technology that can be used as a foundation on which to build e-education application courses.
We explored some of the technical aspects of distance learning. In this class, one of my team projects was to analyze the University of Phoenix's course delivery method. It was soong ago for me, that it pre-dated the rEsource guide that we use now. We were still using the Unimodule as the semi-syllabus, which made classes confusing. Its interesting that some of the things we suggested in our project such as having a standard place for assignments in the rEsource and audio visual lessons such as Netg have been implemented. However, I'm still surprised that UOP has not implemented a standard syllabus, with a standard course calendar of events. Also there is still no standard place for instant messaging. Other schools platforms had installed these features a long time ago.
