Quote of the week:
"Good name in man and woman, dear my lord,
Is the immediate jewel of their souls:
Who steals my purse steals trash; ’tis something, nothing;
’Twas mine, ’tis his, and has been slave to thousands;
But he that filches from me my good name
Robs me of that which not enriches him
And makes me poor indeed.

Shakespeare -- Othello

I'm back from New York!
"No sleep since Brooklyn", one could say - haha - so don't feel like writing much now. You're not going to get a boring "What I Did On My Holidays" story anyway.

When I finally reached Sheffield and opened the door to my house I realised that the boiler replacement works that should have been finished last week during my absence had only been started this morning. This means I have no water, no gas, and hence no shower, no stove, no drinks or heating available. Very good timing indeed! It's rather cold here in the UK, too - after a couple of very hot and sunny days in New York this seems very cruel. At least the electricity works. But I can't even sit in my living room and watch TV because all the stuff from the kitchen is piled up there. I guess I will just go to bed and get up really early tomorrow to shower in the gym before work. Still not as bad as the poor people in Java have it at the moment...

... well, it's not MY house...

I haven't checked my bank balance yet, but have already booked another flight - to Graz. It is already twice as expensive as when I checked the first time. Somebody finally found a flyer for the gig on June 10th, so I'm going to take a gamble.

Pictures of the weekend:

The view from our hotel

The predicable views from the Empire State Building..

... and from Brooklyn Bridge.
