you for showing your true faces." |
On Thursday Ingrid and Marion visited. I was so excited because I had not seen Marion in years, apart from the odd day at somebody's wedding or christening. It went really well, and it seems like the other two thought so, too. I'll try to visit Marion in Manchester in October for a night on Canal Street when Vera and Daniel are coming over. It had been a stressful week of handovers, cleaning, booking concert tickets, and packing. I was stressing about all sorts of things. Various people had made comments about my trip and how odd it was that I'm not taking Stephen, how weird I am in general, and why do I have to be so independent? Do I? Am I? By the end of the week I almost wanted to stay at home!
I took a late train to
London stressing about missing the Turnmills gig. But of course George was
not on at 11 PM... Kristine and I were staying at the very nice
Hoxton Hotel in Hoxton (hence the name) for a splendid special-offer
price. I wouldn't be able to tell where Hoxton ends and where Shoreditch
begins, or if one is a part of the other. But the hotel is basically IN
George's street, though we didn't know that when we were booking! Poor
Kristine didn't dare to step on the street in case she was seen and it
might look like she was stalking! LOL The club was walking distance from the hotel. Kenneth and Tania joined us, and later we also met other familiar faces. I didn't particularly like the club or the night's concept. They have many, many rooms, and many, many DJs (a ridiculous number like 27). And you have to go up and down stairs all the time. Both don't make sense for the hordes of drunken people who frequent clubs: most of the time they would not even know which room they are stumbling in, or which DJ they are currently missing in another room, and they will fall down the many stairs! George came on at 1.30 and played a 1.5 hour gig or so. Jon Pleased was the next in line, and George did not throw beer in his face when he had to leave. Jon did however seem a bit worried if he would ever leave, because George had the microphone and kept singing over Jon's tracks. ;-) George looked absolutely wonderful and well. He was not wearing a hat, and almost no makeup. He hadn't even painted his neck! Gorgeous. He's the most beautiful man in the whole world and everybody who disagrees is optically challenged! LOL
People loved his set and he
really got the crowd going. I overheard the girl next to me say to her
friend: "This guy is playing the best fucking set I have heard in my
life!" Bless! :)
After the set, Kristine,
Yulia and I left straight the club straight away and lost the others, even
though we hung around the entrance for quite a while. We eventually made
our way back to the hotel and also went for a short walk through the
neighbourhood which freaked Kristine out completely. LOL |
**************************** Ah yes, I have tickets for all the January dates, and I also bought tickets for all dates for Klaus and Jen who don't have credit cards or other banking problems. Now I'm broke! LOL And I bought one ticket for the Saturday gig for Stephen! That will be a first! I'm glad I remembered, because I have wanted to drag him to concert for ages but the gigs always end up being on a Tuesday or somewhere difficult to get to. But a Saturday is definitely doable. When I told him, he didn't even protest - he just marked the date in his calendar! |
