The electricity is still holding, but with most power stations flooded and one under immediate threat of being swept away by a dam breach, we now have contingency plans in place at work. Stephen has no way of getting home and/or back, so he's been staying at my place. Today we washed, and I had to turn the heating on to make the clothes dry faster. It's freezing anyway, only 10 degrees, and there's frost forecast! It's June 26, by the way. Amazing! I'm now seriously beginning to worry if I can make it to the airport on Friday night, because more rain is expected by then. However, at the moment the emergency service between Sheffield and Manchester airport is the only public transport that's going in the area at all! So I hope they will keep it up... |
