There go my modelling contracts...

I've booked my flights for Canada!
But unfortunately the Montreal gig is STILL not confirmed, so it may end up being on the 15th or 21st and I will miss it... :(
I am flying out of Denver at 1 AM on Monday, April 16th, which should get me into Buffalo in the late Monday morning. I'm stopping over in new York. So that means no sleep, but I'm also saving on a hotel the night before I will go "sightseeing" in Denver on Sunday. Even though Kristine claims there aren't any sights!
I will spend 2 days in Niagara Falls, and then on Wednesday, Kristine and Barb plus fianc will join me and the madness can begin!
Apparently Barb travels with even more stuff than Kristine, including coolers and water supply (?)! Well, at least she'll bring the car!
The plan is to drive to Montreal on Thursday, and then back to Toronto on Friday.
My flight back to London is Saturday night from Toronto.
Amazingly, Barb has invited us to stay at their place in Toronto! How kind! Thank, Barb! :)

I'm worried about Julia who's had her court case and is now awaiting her verdict. It's all very scary! It makes me feel so stupid because there's nothing I can do. They may just send her back to Russia!

Stephen is ill now, too - and off on holidays. He didn't feel well enough to come into Sheffield today, poor snuffles!
Tomorrow is Amanda's last day and for some reason they've ordered pizza. Not sure if to celebrate her "good-bye" or the good year-end results. But I'm already stressed out by the prospect of fatty food in abundance! I had chocolates earlier, don't ask me why... it just overcomes me. :(

Speaking of fat:
Die Zeit has an article this week that claims that science shows that it's basically impossible to lose weight and stay slim. Only 1 in 100 (or so) manages to keep the weight off, and all diets don't really work. Apparently our bodies are not so easily fooled and efficiently maintain a steady weight/metabolism.

I'm trying to be "nice" now in ALL my e-mails. So I'm patiently telling the lead of my most important project how to install that most important tool that he should have started using 8 months ago, and without whose use it is NO WONDER we have been fucking up all along!!
Muriel was flabbergasted when I told her. It's just so very, very shocking! (And I didn't even swear much!)
Of course it works better if I'm nice, but I am literally crying into my keyboard all day long. We are so doomed. There are such HUGE training gaps. I'm not even sure if they could ever be filled with training, or if I'm simply ASKING TOO MUCH of them.
But still -- it's not bloody rocket science! I have spent a good part of last year training hundreds of people, and now I realise that about 60% of them have left (without passing on the knowledge), and the rest -- even though they have been working on the projects nonstop -- appear to simply have "forgotten" the most basic things! Maybe they are taking the piss, trying to upset me??
It will be even MORE fun when MILS get rid of GIAA and JetStream in a couple of weeks! Then I can start ALL OVER again. Nobody really knows yet that this will be happening (Chris definitely doesn't) but I have read the Master Plan! LOL
The new tool doesn't look too bad -- IF it works -- but it will probably require another round-the-world training tour. Well, that's OK with me! Haha!

Today I actually looked at what I'm working on and discovered this cute little gimmick:
http://maps.live.com
It's quite good! And so fast!
OK, it's only properly indexed for the USA at the moment, but if you know where you're looking you can find what you're looking for.

A bit of contrast can make a difference, but I am too fat.
