Quote of the day:
"Where am I next week? |
Saturday
I still managed to get a couple of hours of sleep after 6AM, even including dreams, which was nice.
Got up at about 10:30, got ready and set off to the airport in very good
time. We ended up taking an FlyTaxi for sheer convenience. We still had
some Romanian money to spend anyway. At the airport we realized that is
wasn't true that BA were offering self-check-in, so Kristine had to
re-pack and check her huge, heavy "hand luggage"! LOL We made sure however
that we got 2 aisle seats opposite each other as far in the front as
possible. This turned out to be row 7, so not too brill... whatever.
After security I looked through the local papers
but could only find one with a small article. I realised
that it was about a press conference and that they mentioned Paul quite a
lot!
George and Paul were on the same flight of course so we could ask Paul
directly what he had been saying at that press conference that George
didn't turn up to. :-)
Paul even decided to sit in our row and we spent the whole 3 hours of the
flight chatting -- probably much to the annoyance of other passengers that
wanted some peace and quiet!
In London we had to change planes for Edinburgh and after quite a bit of
confusion and getting lost we still had an approx. 1.5h wait which we
spent talking some more, even though George was sleeping most of the time.
;-)
In Edinburgh, Kristine and I went straight
to our hotel and got ready for the club. We were still early and even
after 1AM the place was not directly packed. It had a nice, alternative
atmosphere though. The Scots are such a fun people, everybody was
obviously enjoying themselves and getting very drunk!
When George had to finish because the club had pulled the plug the crowd
kept chanting "one more tune" which was cute! :-)
Trying to get a cab at 3AM on Victoria
Street proved a difficult task, and in the end Helga asked a mini cab
driver if he would take us. The man looked more like a bodyguard, very
professional but kindly agreed to drive us to our hotels. When he
overheard us talking he asked whom we had been to see that night and then
said that just 20 minutes ago he had driven George & entourage to their
hotel! LOL So many coincidences! It's a small planet indeed. :-)
Sunday The hotel made us check
out at 9:45 already! I saw Kristine off and walked around in search for
breakfast. My train was at 1. I tried to rebook it, but it would have been
too expensive. Later I found out that Kristine and Helga had met Paul and
George at the airport again and have had coffee together! Grrr... Well, at
least my absence had been noted. LOL |
