Quote:
"You're too femme."
Susan

Word of the week:
Audacious

Person:
Kristine
For going to the court and waiting for hours again!

Song:
She Cut Off Her Long Silken Hair
(Richard Thompson)
...
And I measured my life
and my heart fairly broke with the sorrow and care...

Funny thing of the week:
Wanted: Lead singer for Culture Club

Fact of the week:
You can turn off "tracks" on gaydar so that people can't see you've looked at their profile!
OK, this feature has been there all the time, but I needed Susan to tell me! :-D

A photo:

Too red for Leeds?
-- "Are you an alien?"

I have skipped a few days again, but I had to spend at least some time with Stephen!

Work was alright but I've realised I have to be more proactive in my role. Amanda has given me my new targets, too. This means I will do fun stuff like LocStudio training sessions for the new Azerbaijani translators or leading the Microsoft Quality Standards pilot...

Speaking of Microsoft: Bill Gates has announced that he will gradually disengage from day-to-day operations at Microsoft with the aim of working full-time for his charity foundation. Bless him!

Wednesday was George's birthday and I bought roses as always. 45 roses do not fit all into one vase though! Christian texted, which was nice, and I also talked to Susan.
The week felt a bit depressing somehow, like impending doom. Friday night I didn't sleep well and woke up every hour or so. I eventually woke up to the news on Saturday, so here we go again! Well, there's always something, isn't there?!

I was in Leeds yesterday for the Gatecrasher gig. The gig did happen after all. And as George was obviously not in New York, he could of course come to Leeds...
It was a very tough day and I'm not going to go into details.
I've taken some pictures though.
The quality is bad because there were so many bright lights around the DJ booth and too much smoke.

Poor Paul McCartney is 64 today and nobody loves him! These are tough times indeed...

I think it's mostly denied how much addictions feature in our everyday life. Drugs are everywhere, and everybody is constantly thinking about them, thinking about when and how to take them, or how to avoid them. Just look at alcohol! Apparently there are people that are not affected by addiction, but I can't even imagine how they feel. Everybody has some sort of obsession. It's just so human.
One could say that it's only an addiction if you can't control it. But most addicts are highly functional. We don't lose control in public, but we do it secretly time and time again. You just don't admit these things. You don't admit that you've had the last half of that bottle while your boyfriend was in the bathroom getting ready for bed.
You don't admit at that business meeting that you've just been to the Ladies' to throw up that crab cocktail.
When you find yourself on the bathroom floor again feeling completely wasted, you still get up the next morning, get ready for work and lead that important meeting.
You might admit that there's a problem, but you don't admit to the details. It's the details that make it so intimate.
And while you can still get the control back every time, why would you need to change anything?
