A quote:
"Guilty --
Its also an album by La Streisand- a true gay icon with some dignity, a fanbase and a jawline."

(Pisses me off big time, but it's still a good quote! LOL)

Saturday  Went to Bristol with Stephen -- first class on the train! :-)
We are staying at a TravelInn, which is actually very nice! Nice large bed with good mattress and a proper bathroom with tub. The blond young ladies at the reception are not much cop though. They look like each is training the other one.
We walked about the city centre for a bit and then ate some really lovely sausage and mash at that place near the waterfront. The bar girl didn't charge us, so after 2 hours or so we started wondering if maybe the meal had been for free? We had to really fight for the waiter's attention to finally pay... well, I would have walked away without paying, but that would have meant coping with a nagging Stephen for at least a couple of months! LOL

When we were visiting the cathedral, a choir was rehearsing, which added to the atmosphere. I lit a candle.

We walked to the SS Britannia and I still can't believe that this tiny boat is supposed to be Brunel's amazing technical revolution! No way!!
We tried to get into the museum but there was a bloody private wedding going on!

We walked back to the centre and dropped by the Industrial Museum. Nothing I haven't seen before, but still nice.

I've bought a map of Bucharest in the travel bookshop, so that's sorted.

Sunday  We went to the zoo! Great! :-) It was cold and getting colder... but apart from waiting for the bus for 40 minutes I didn't mind so much. Those stick and leave insects are just amazing!!

I haven't been on the internet for 24 hours and it's beginning to show... I have found an internet place near the hotel, but it's closed tonight.

Monday  Today we went to Bath on the bus, it was not a problem at all. It's still cold. We went to see the Roman baths of course. Those self-service audio guides are quite good because they give so much information! Too much information really.

Went to the internet place and yes, there were news! New DJ dates have been added!! Ahhh!! Need to book flights!!

Tuesday  Stephen had a good tour idea for today: Go to Wells and then have dinner in Weston-super-Mare, returning to Bristol at night.

When we arrived we had scones with clotted cream & jam and cream tea. How very English!! :-)

The Well's abbey is lovely, and the "quiet hour" more than necessary. After they let the crowds roam again the atmosphere suffered considerably. I lit a candle.

It started to rain so we skipped a couple of churches. Stephen seems to have gone off churches a bit, LOL! So we were done with Wells sooner than expected and headed off to Weston-Super-Mare. I kept falling asleep on the bus, which Stephen takes as "wasting an opportunity for sightseeing". He was also pissed off because --at his advice-- I had bought day passes for the buses, even though he had wanted to take the train back to Bristol. He IS a train-spotter! LOL

At Weston we walked down the pier and looked at the scary "amusement" machines. The tide was low so the sea wasn't actually there, but never mind! We have been at the sea side! :-)

We had tea in a greasy-spoon food place: Fish & chips and Shepherd's Pie. How very British again!

After we returned to Bristol we went into the Albertini and saw an exhibition by Mark Titcher. He does stuff with language, quite like Jenny Holzer, but not as good: more subjective and more emotional.
I bought David Shrigley postcards at the gift shops, and I have to get his books! He's great!

In the evening we went to a pub and then to a tapas place. It took some walking around before we found places that agreed with Stephen who was feeling unusual frisky and wanted "music and people"! He got quite moody when the tapas bar didn't serve meat balls, but I just ignored him and ordered other stuff which he did like! LOL

Wednesday  I had started to feel ill the night before, so Stephen let me sleep in the morning. We checked out at 12 and went to the "Reckless Engineer" for a very hearty breakfast before our trains went.

I can't believe I've managed to catch 2 colds in one week! My nose is running again, and I've got a sore throat. I'm feeling alright though, or maybe that's the SuperStrong Beecham's?

I caught my train to London and Stephen went back to Sheffield.

Amazing: As we were walking into the Budgen's to get some booze and cookies, they were playing the Highgate version of Out Of Fashion over the shop's stereo!! It completely threw me! What a coincidence! I asked if it was a CD or radio, and of course it was somebody's CD. Stephen says shops are not really allowed to play CDs over the PA because they should have to pay royalties... ;-)
