Quote of the day:
"Man kann nicht nebenbei
lieben."
-- from the wedding sermon
Song of the day:
Best of Both Worlds
(Robert Palmer)
Annoying thing of the
day:
I need to register with a new dentist after my
old one has kicked all her
NHS patients out. And just like on cue, today my
tooth has started hurting
and I probably won't get a first time
appointment anywhere in the next
eight weeks! Tomorrow morning I will have to
travel all the way to Norfolk
park just to fill in the registration form and
will be late for work!
Book of the day:
Russendisko
(Wladimir Kaminer)
--so funny!! Now I must read all of his books!

Last weekend
I went to Germany for Ingrid & Dennis's
wedding. It was a nice party and I
talked a lot.
I flew into
Cologne on Friday night after work, arriving at
1AM at the hotel which was
also a restaurant/pub. I decided to have one
small nightcap beer at the
bar, but unfortunately it turned into three...
Not my fault, the two
Klsch ladies who forcefully acquainted me kept
ordering rounds! They were
74 and 56, but you wouldn't have known! Mary
reminded me of Lottie Huber -
that type, so funny! She had lost her husband 2
weeks before but was
determined to go on singing and dancing. It was
about 3AM when I finally
made it into bed -- not an ideal for a
"fresh start" in the morning, but
at least I got a taste of charming
Cologne.
Maickel whom
I didn't know - but who apparently still
remembered me from a New Year's
Eve party about 10 year ago - picked me up from
the station in Darmstadt.
I'm afraid he got more than his share of talk
from me that day because we
were stuck together for so long! At 2:30PM we
picked up Claudia from the
station (she had come all the way from Norderney
with a huge suitcase that
barely fit into the car ) and drove straight to
Seeheim-Jugenheim to the
church. Rainer, Ingrid's ex from years ago was
there, too, even though he
hadn't been invited to the party! I finally met
Pitti and Andreas's baby
daughter Annika, who's really very cute. She's
only 14 months and doesn't
speak yet, only "dah! dah!". She
seemed to like me and grabbed my hand --
spooky! LOL
Vera was there with brand new Daniel who's
really funny. He reminds me of
Markus, because he's that kind of teccie-nerdy
"communicator".
I also met Marion who I never see - she now
lives in Manchester, so I
threatened multiple times to visit her there.
She is buying a
house, having sold her Edinburgh flat.
Grrrr....
The church
service was very customized but still very
Catholic. I read the First
Reading! Compared to Dennis's parents Ingrid's
parents seem totally
harmless by the way -- I now understand why he
moved out as soon as
possible! Ingrid is now called Baier -- which is
the original
spelling of Bayer, I learned. LOL
The party
took place in Ober-Ramstadt in the Goldene Nudel
gallery which was
decorated quite lovely. There was coffee and
cake and later food and drink
and more food... the DJ was late because of the
football, but by the time
he arrived most people had started leaving which
was a bit unfortunate for
Ingrid and Dennis, I think. I tried to make up
for it by drinking the rest
of the champagne, dancing hard and bonding with
the DJ over Guesch Patti.
He was French, not Norwegian like Dennis had
claimed, LOL.
We were the last to leave, Maickel was driving
and we even got into a
police control and he had to have an alcohol
test! He had 0.0000 pro mille
though. Bloody heck, is it illegal to drive a
car at 4AM in the morning?!
Here are my
"Lomo" quality impressions from the
wedding party. The lack of wedding
pictures is noticeable! LOL

I
still find all this
getting-married and having-kids business
rather astonishing. It's just
not for me. Vera caught the bridal bouquet and
Daniel caught the garter
belt! Very was flying high - she must be
the next in line, I only
hope Daniel is up for it! LOL
But it's fine by me - the more people are having
babies the less I need to
have. ;-)
It makes me wonder though what point there is
for me to be in a
relationship at all, if it's clearly "not
leading anywhere"... |
