Here's a post I made on
the topic of "how could George accept the Q Award for Karma
Chameleon (give me a break!) without mentioning the other
ex-Culture club members:
While I'm at it,
here's my humble opinion on that whole Q affair....
They are a bunch of sad, old losers - and I don't mean that in a
derogatory way!
But it IS a fact that they have not had an impact on the music industry
for 20 years, and have not been in the spotlight in any other way either.
I'm not saying they are not working (lot's of people work), or that they
are not talented musicians. They are.
BUT there are very, very few people that leave a mark like George. It's
just a special "X factor" star quality. You can't create it. There are
many talented musicians who make genius music, but they just don't become
so famous.
Culture Club would NOT have been a success without George, but George
would have become famous with or without them.
And the "new" Culture Club will NOT be a hit unless something really
unexpected happens...
I'm not saying it is fair. I can understand they are frustrated.
But it's not George's fault.
They can say what they want about George but it is a fact that he made
more headlines with his community service than Madonna strapping herself
half-naked to a crucifix onstage... LOL
And even picking up dog shit in New York George has displayed more style
than that "New Culture Club" could ever do in their desperate pursuit of
"fame".

Funny, I have no
complaint about Spain at all! The attendance was huge, the people nice,
and I had a good time! *Could* be that I speak the language... but somehow
everything was less annoying.
Because I had to fly back on Friday night I couldn't really go out, but
agreed with Cristina and Ángel to go for a drink on Thursday night
instead. Unfortunately I waited at the wrong landmark and we never found
each other! Cristina's directions had seemed fool-proof: Go along the road
until the road works stop, then there's a bit place with a huge fountain
and a very tall monument. But just that day the roadworks had finished,
and I walked not far enough and ended up waiting at the wrong HUGE
fountain - how many big fountains with tall columns can they have?! LOL
I realised my mistake, and went to a tapas bar on my own instead to read
the papers and have some wine. The hotel room had a mini bar again, and it
seemed a good idea at the time to drink various bottles after I got home.
The next morning I needed a lot of orange juice and not much more... doh!
I vaguely remember spamming the CC forum and watching shopping channels. I
also took a lot of photos.
I still haven't done my expenses from that trip, I hope I can find that
minibar receipt again!

Friday night
I travelled back to Liverpool and arrived quite late after midnight. There
had been major power cuts in Europe (something I didn't know at the time)
which must have caused delays and chaos at the airport. It took forever to
get through the passport control in Liverpool. People were queuing on the
tarmac! Formunately I had the taxi pick me up so I was back home by 2AM
Saturday.
Saturday was Feliciano's
"Halloween"-cum-birthday party. I made an effort to go fancy dress
according to the motto "Eighties" (scary!!!). The only 80s look I would
have liked to wear was Leigh Bowery, but I'd already done that 2 years
ago. So I decided to go as a "Palmer girl" - all in black with lip gloss
and slimed-back hait. Feliciano was the only one who "got" it - everybody
else thought it was not colourful enough. But hey! It's supposed to look
different from how I look usually!
I did NOT drink too much at the party, but spent quite some time belting
out Perl Jam and Nirvana songs with some of the air-guitar playing boys
(there was no karaoke, LOL). Bettina seemed impressed that "there
IS a world outside Boy George...". Bah!!! As if that had anything to do
with music...!
