My Husband and I are small hobby breeders located in Southeastern Michigan that specialize in QUALITY, not quantity. We believe that temperament and sound breeding MUST come before anything else. Many so-called reputable breeders always seem to have puppies for sale and end up breeding for the money, not the love and advancement of the breed. They comprimise not only their integrity, but many times the breed itself by not putting the health and welfare FIRST of each and every dog they themselves are responsible for bringing into the world.
We spend a lot of time caring for and socializing our babies. After being born, they are kept in our bedroom with us until they are around 4 weeks old, and then the pups along with their Mom, are moved into our living room to a larger puppy pen, so they keep getting plenty of love and attention.
We recommend that Chihuahua puppies stay with the breeder until about 10 weeks of age to be sure they are eating well, and to learn all they can from their Mom and littermates.They will have had their first shots by then and able to safely begin their lives with their prospective new families. Each Puppy you adopt from us comes with a Guarantee of Health.
We have not always bred and shown Chihuahuas, we started first showing Pekingese, which proved to be a very hard and expensive breed for us. We only had one litter in nine years that didn't require a c-section, considering you may only get a couple pups and pay up to $1000 for the section, that alone was reason enough to take a hard look at what we were doing. But we just adored those delightful Pekingese best until the day we bought our son a Chihuahua for his 18th Birthday. We had recently lost our Black Lab Sam at 15 years old, when we asked our son if he wanted another Lab, he decided we should check into getting a Chihuahua,(quite a difference, huh?) I checked with some breeders and asked if they knew any wonderful Chihuahua people who had sweet dogs and we were referred to Darwin Delaney and the rest, as they say is...H I S T O R Y! We bought a pet quality LC Chihuahua we called "Poco", We absolutely fell in love with these little guys and next thing we knew we had bought our first show dog, our little "Annie". We were so infatuated with Chihuahuas by this time there was NO GOING BACK.
We still have two of our first Pekes who are now 12 years old and they will be a part of our family until they pass away. So, if you see some Peke pictures thrown in on our pictures page, please forgive us. We can't help ourselves; after all, without our first Peke "Mogwie", we wouldn't have a cool kennel name that nobody can pronounce. ;)
