Mogul prefer to turn it up. Their rather oxymoronically titled 7 tracker mixes ferocious rhythms, powerful determined vocals laid over a charged rhythm guitar. Their chord combinations are simple but effective (isn't that so often the case?) and the songs are well writtne with thankfully unsophisticated lyrics.

But they are difficult to pigeon hole. They mix blues, rock, indie, and even a few grains of country (it must be the Shania influence) so you don't actually know where they're coming from. The only comparison is that the singer sounds a bit like a former student favourite - Cud, again not a bad thing.

My favourite tracks are Payback and Worldchild, - if only because of the force by which they deliver these tracks, and from evidence of the CD I was given, Mogul should most certainly be an outstanding live band. They are very tight and feel as if they love playing together. We'll look forawrd to them competing in a few months.
