The nineteenth century was one of industrialisation and innovation. All faces of society were affected by this, from the overworked underpaid proletariat, the ever-socializing upper class and the poor blighters doing their duty in the army. People of all backgrounds saw the potentials and dreamt. Dickens, Marx, Ericsson, Verne, Gatling, Bismark, Daimler, Benz, Tesla, Bell, Wells, Edisson, Conan Doyle... And these are only few from the many that came foreward with their dreams. To the wargamer, these dreamers give possibilities to add countless flavour to the period, from the scientific acheivements of some, to the litterary foresight of others, to the bloody reality of the rest. It is possible to explore new ideas, even silly ones. One can create existing technologies decades before they appeared, or visit strange and extraordinary places. It's all up to the players to see how far they are willing to go. |
