NOW'S THE TIME

"This One's For The Girlies Then!"

Above: 'Now's The Time' single sleeve design by Matt.

'Now's The Time' was originally written as song to impress a music teacher by interspersing jazz chords into the bridge although the song has emegerged and flourished as some what of a stand out Censored.... track, as rather than the usual influences of Oasis and The Beatles are lost in a mixture of Soul, Motown and R&B undertones, purely because of Matt's love of Mod Era Classic Soul and experimentalism. The influences here are The Style Council, Ocean Colour Scene, Otis Redding, The Charlatans, Curtis Mayfield, Diana Ross & The Supremes and a whole host of Tamla-Motown acts.

Matt: I was gettin' into Soul, Tamla Motown and proper R&B, y'kno not like the shite that's out now, 'Rythm & Bollocks', at the time because what I do is I take a favourite band or artist of mine and find out who inspired them and see if I like it, so I wrote this track as something slap-dash and thought nothing much of it. Then I started playing it to people and they loved it so I made a proper song and got the boys to put the backing to it and came out of it with a crackin' song, if I dare say so myself.

Nathan: This is probably my favourite of all Matt's songs. I think he's really hit the spot with this stunning, soul-love masterpiece, and the lads all sound their best on it; from my smooth bass line in the verse, to Chris's ghost snares in the middle 8. Marvellous!

Chris: This song is Matts classic 'bum me sir!' song, although I only say this because he got a better mark than me in our music exam at school. The love song's drumming style is a bit different, the bass is acceptable, what more can I say its nathan playin', only jokin youth, and matt is quite cool on it too! Good stuff lads!
