An up-beat rock 'n' roll number with deep and meaningful lyrics and personification of the decline of the British Empire.

Matt: I wrote these lyrics in an English lesson, very rock 'n' roll!, about the decline of the British Empire then I put them to these shit chords and just left it. But now since creating this concept I have took it much more seriously and it has become the title of the concept. I tried to echoe Paul Weller's prophetic words, 'Whatever Happened To The Great Empire, You Bastards Have Turned It Into Manure!'
