| Each and every one of us is borned of darkness because of the first Adam. (Genesis 3:23) As we grow and as we hear the voice of the Lord (Revelations 3:20) and His knocks on the door of our hearts; and when we decided to acknowledge Him as our Lord and Saviour, through repentance and forgiveness of sin from Him through faith, we go through His santification. Here is where He cleanses us of our sins and purifies us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). It is also at this stage that we, who have been sanctified, will find that there are struggles between the new Spiritual life and old sinful nature (Romans 8:14-25) of our flesh! Here is where many spiritual battles are fought between God and Satan over the control of us. Such struggles are good because they bring to our attention between darkness and Light! It is at this juncture (Jeremiah 6:16) where you will have to make a choice of enjoying the goodness and promises of God; leading to eternal life OR fall to the deceitfulness and sinful nature of the world; leading to eternal death! (Isaiah 66:24) If you choose to walk in the Light, you must not continue to sin but to live a truthful, just and righteous way so as to receive His blessings (Jeremiah 4:2). "You will also make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to it, knowledge and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perserverance; and to perserverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is short-sighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins!" Furthermore you cannot go on sinning because as you are born of God; His seed remains in you. This is how we know who the children of God are and who are of the devil. (1 John 3:9-10) Does this mean that once we are saved, forever we will be saved? Surely not! Unless you continue to lead a discipline life in Jesus Christ. You will still be tempted by Satan; for he will not give you up just like that! He will continue to tempt you in all ways and by all means. When this happens, just continue to stay in focus of the Lord and He, who is faithful, will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. He will provide a way out for you. Just trust Him to deliver! But if you allow yourself to fall into Satan's trap, thinking that it is alright to go back to the sinful way of life (darkness) because you are already saved, how wrong can you be! Why? Simple. As you dwell in darkness, your light in you will eventually dies out and you cannot see anymore! (Galatians 6:8) Let me give you an illustration : If a piece of white paper is being slowly soaked into black ink, what will become of that paper? It turns black obviously! In the same way, you are that paper and the darkness of this world is the ink. Do you really believe that you can overcome darkness while dwelling in it? And if you continue in your faith, a lot will depends on how you build up your foundation. So, ensure that you are not one that is just going to escape though the test of fire. (1 Corinthians 3:10 - 15) Once when you have tasted the goodness of the Lord, continue to walk in Him and He will strengthen you through His Spirit, His power and His blessings will be on you. (Isa 58:8-11) If you are still living a sinful life although you have heard Him, my advice is : Repent now! For tomorrow may be too late! (Matthew 24:36) |
