Welcome to Model Sprints - Australia

Welcome to Model Sprints

We are a quarter scale, radio control sprintcar club based in the state of Victoria Australia. The popularity of quarter scale racing has grown considerably these past couple of years. As we receive many inquiries on how to become involved in quarter scale racing and our club activities we have decided to create this brief information web page. Model Sprints also welcome you to become members (even if you presently don't have a car) to our Model Sprints Yahoo! Group, you will find a link at the foot of the page.

The Australian and South Australian Quarter Scale Speedway Championships (25cc Sprintcars) took place at Penfield Park S.A. over the Easter holiday weekend. Both days produced some frantic racing despite the track becoming a bit rough after rain on Saturday afternoon. The S.A title race was run under lights on Saturday night with first and second places taken by Victorian drivers Rob and Matty and third place by Mal from NSW. Sunday dawned fine and racers were at the track early preparing for the big day ahead. Heat racing was again very competitive with similar track conditions to Saturday. After great drives in the B Main, Peter Henley and Les Cramp transferred to the rear of the Aussie title race. The top four point scorers for the title race were: 1) Robert Coombs 2) Jason Griffith 3) Bill Drew 4) Matthew Turner After a lot of incidents only five cars finished with the title going to defending champion Robert Coombs with Peter Henley second and Bill Drew third.

Promoting a family sporting affair with speedway racing that is as close to driving a real sprintcar as you can get.

Quarter scale has been around 15 odd years in Australia. Early racecars were imported from America. Nowadays they are produced in our country by club members.
