Being a Model is tough. You have to work long hours, travel distances for a long time, and you have to be bossed around constantly. But there are some good sides of modeling such as meeting new people, publicity, and getting to see what it's like on the side were people look at you. But there is somethings you have to know about the modeling business, that is rejections. Sometimes a client or an agency might not like the way you look and say your no good enough. But that isn't the only agent out there. First you have to find out which category you go under in modeling. Are you the Classic Beauty, The Exotic Girl, The Sweet Girl Next Door, or are you a Barbie Doll. Once you figure out which type you are then you can send out your pic to agencies that have models that look like you so you will know that you won't get rejected.
If you ever go through magazines and see modeling contest, searches, or someting make sure that you check with the BBB to see if you won't be getting scamed. Never go into something that wants you to pay outrageous amounts of money or cover charges. If it is a real agency all the cost will be covered. You'll know its real when you get to talk to other clients and people that work for the agency.
Once you get your portfolio and cards done then it's time for the photo shoots. Whenever you go to a job make sure you act professional. Don't just sit there and be lazy and have people do things for you. Get up and meet the other people around, talk to the photographer and hair and makeup people. Once you get into the spotlight don't just sit there move to the music and shake your hips, be proud tha you got that far.
If you follow theses basics then you will defintly make a name for yourself. Just stay yourself and don't change if your not want someone is looking for. And if you think you have something just don't sit here and dream. Go out there and try. The worst thing someone can is is "no".
