1928 Model A Ford

THE HISTORY

This 1928 Model A leatherback is unlike most cars of this vintage in that we know it's complete history.  It was purchased new from a Ford Dealership in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan (Canada) in 1928.  It was owned and very well looked after by this person for 30 years.  In 1958 my Uncle Jim who was 17 at the time purchased this vehicle from his neighbor.  The exact purchase price is not known for sure but it is believed to be either $75.00 or $100.00.  In 1959, 1960, and 1961 Jim attended school in Moose Jaw, he did not take the car with him so it was only driven on weekends and holidays.  In 1962 Jim moved to Ottawa to continue his studies.  Before he left he parked the car in a shed on his brothers farm.  Here it remained out of sight but not forgotten.  All Jim's life he has collected and has a very strong interest in antiques, so shortly after his retirement he decided to get this care restored and asked me if I would take the job on.  I took 1 second to decide and we drove to the farm where it had been stored for 37 years on Dec 22 1999.  Over the years the car had been an ideal home for mice, rats, raccoons, etc.  The upholstery was a total disaster, but the rest of the car was in excellent shape. (for a car that was over 70 years old).  I thought that I would share my experiences in the rebuilding process with other Model A enthusiasts.
