TREVOR CAROLAN: for 23 years Trevor Carolan practiced Tai Chi under the guidance of a master. His book, Twenty Years with a Tai Chi Master, is an account of this time. He is also a poet, Celtic Highway is published by Ekstasis Editions.

Mocambopo and Ekstasis Editions have launched the first Mocambopo Prize of $300 for the best poem.

The deadline for entries is January 31, 2004. Send your poems to the contest judge, Tanis MacDonald.


Contest rules:
1. You must have read at Mocambopo at some point in the past. (Mocambo holds a reading every Friday from 7:30 pm. It is located at 1028 Blanshard St near Fort St).
2. You must not have a published book
3. Entry fee is $3.00
4. Send one poem only to:

Bio on Tanis MacDonald:
Tanis Macdonald has a BA from the University of Winnipeg and an MA, in English, from the University of Manitoba. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis at University of Victoria. Her latest book is Fortune, by Turnstone Press. This is her fifth book of poetry. She is the winner of the coveted Bliss Carmen award for poetry.

TANYA KERN was the host of Mocambopo. She is launching her second book of poetry from Ekstasis Editions, Ave.

Mocambopo happens every week. It is a launching pad for the energies of writers and poets established and not. It is a place where words are most important. A venue in which all manner of poets and writers are welcome; a place for excellence, innovation, collaboration, diverse projects and experiments. The event starts Fridays at 7:30 PM.
