| Mrs. Becker Absences, Late Work, and Tardies Absences: It is important that you attend class every day. It is easy to fall behind on your work when you are absent. Your absence will be counted as unexcused until you bring me a note signed by your parent or guardian indicating the date(s) and reason for your absence (or a copy of the note if you already submitted the note to the attendance office). If you must be absent from class, you are responsible for making up the work. I may not automatically remember that you were absent when you return to school; ask me what needs to be made up either before or after school or before or after class. Tests and quizzes must be made up as soon as possible. See me for an appointment. Homework must also be made up as soon as possible. You will have two school days for every day absent to complete and turn in missed work. After this time, the missed work becomes late work. Missing work will be graded as "0" until it is made up. Note: I will not accept work if your absence is unexcused, or a "cut." The grade will be a permanent "0." Late Work: Late homework for regular assignments and/or reading is NOT accepted. Because papers and projects make up such a large portion of your grade, I will reluctantly accept late papers and/or projects. Please note that your grade for the assignment will be automatically lowered for each school day that the assignment is late, and that typically, I do NOT accept late work of any kind one week after its due date. Note: Please do not try to complete late homework during class. If I have already collected the assignment but you complete it before class ends, it will still count as "0." Tardies: It is your responsibility to be on time to class. If the classroom door is closed, class has started and you will be marked tardy, resulting in a deduction in participation points. return to homepage |
