Thai was born in Thailand in 1975, and raised in Oregon and California. He is single (but collared and chained with an averge length leash). He studied sociology at san diego state university and TEFL in San Francisco. He grew up listening to his older brother's metal records and envisioning himself with sticks in hand and pedals under his feet. He later acquired a drumset to start a high school band called PHLEM. PHLEM lasted a week with one concert during a spring week festival which received little to no applause from an unforgiving high school audience. In university he found himself around a bunch of burners with some musical talent. After some jam sessions the group developed into a band called GROW. After two years of no musical development (or growing), the band internally and externally combusted. Shortly after moving to korea he found the over driven hot rodney himself, steve fuller. with steve and eventually myoung jae formed The Hot Rodneys. In 2000 they made a cd called "natural man" which can be found in some korean and expat cd collections collecting dust. He is presently playing in a band called dabang whos wayward direction is a mystery to us all. |

Gord was
born in Blantyre, Malawi, Africa but grew up in a handful of little
one-horse towns across Canada. He started playing the music in middle school because he was envious of the attention his sisters got playing flute in church one Sunday. Sax was his fourth choice after drums, guitar, and bagpipes, all of which were vetoed by his mother: his decision was influenced mainly by the sax player from INXS whom Gord figured probably had lots of girlfriends. (He kept playing even after he found out that playing atonal jazz on the sax is not a very good chick magnet.) After diving into jazz music in high school, he studied music composition, literature, and creative writing at Universities in Saskatoon and Montreal, and moved to Iksan, South Korea on New Year's Day, 2002. He's mostly interested in jazz, electronica, avant-garde, and traditional non-Western music. He claims that MIDI is anathema. He thinks of himself first as a science fiction writer, secondly as a teacher, and his musical hobby usually runs a distant third. (Except when he is attempting to magnetize chicks.)

| Seong Hwan is also known as Tom, apparently because Tom was Huckleberry Finn's best friend. He was born on Mars in a suburb near the one where Sun Ra was born (no relation) and has been playing bass since the 3rd century B.C.. He loves fishing (he really loves fishing...) and camping. His contentedness precludes a lengthier bio, because there are better things to do, after all... |

dabang in its current incarnation has been playing together since March 2002. it seems to have strange past life memories of a time when it was called the Hot Rodneys and the Dwaeji Boys, but those memories are sketchy. after more past life regression therapy, dabang hopes to be able to say more about this. but for now, it's all a little hazy... |
