A Night in Chiang Mai Series. Oil pastel and acrylic on Gold Bondi Sheets. 2001.
The initial piece was made for 'The Self Space' Exhibition at Jeonbuk Art Center in June.  From that sprung subsequent work with the same theme. It all comes from one drawing that I made while traveling through Northern Thailand. While traveling I was impressed by the reflective quality of gold leaf used in a lot of Buddhist Art. I used a soft oil paste or acrylic paint to contrast the hard surface of the gold. The finsished products become mirror like, which came about as I was experimenting with a another way to make a circle.
