*The band are partial to playing pass-the-instrument on stage. Confusing, but it works.

History

Mo-ho-bish-o-pi formed early in 1996 whilst the band members were studying fine art at Cardiff University together.
The band name comes from an extinct ugly Hawaiian bird (no, not *that* kind of bird..). Martin spotted the name in the Readers Digest whilst waiting at the dentists. He thought that with some *'s, the name could be as mad as he is, and that it might suit the band that he sings and plays guitar in today.

Music

The style is unique, quirky and full of memorable lyrics and catchy tunes that stick in your head.
Mo-ho have been likened to Beck, Sonic Youth and Pavement, but their music is closer to the Flaming Lips with hints of Bis and Abba. They layer many instruments, like electronic xylophones, ancient keyboards and guitars to produce interesting sounds, a veritable treat for the ears.

The live 'experience'

A typical Mo-ho gig has been likened to many things; namely elvis conventions, halloween parties and 'watching Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Beta Band play pass the parcel, while Andy Warhol operates the tape player, and Marcel Duchamp packs the party bags with fireworks'. Festivities include white leather Elvis suits, wigs, false beards or all of the above. Marvellous.
