Minnesota Region VI FFA Officer Interviews

Where - Luverne High School

When - March 20th, in conjunction with CDE's

Each Chapter may run 3 qualified candidates, but no chapter may have more than 2 members elected to a Region FFA Office. The Region President MUST have earned the State FFA Degree.

Each Region VI FFA Chapter may seat two delegates on the nominating committee. The nominating committee will interview and elect the new officer team. No current Region VI FFA Officers will be seated on the nominating committee or will be involved in the selection process.

We will make every effort to make the process fair for candidates that also have CDE obligations the same day. Delegates MUST be present at all times. If you are a candidate with a CDE conflict, notify the region advisor upon submission of your application.

Each candidate must -

  • - Complete and submit an Officer Application
  • - Prepare a one page resume, both sent to Region 6 Advisor at least 1 WEEK in advance of the interviews.
  • - Introduce themselves before the Delegate Assembly (Max. of 1 minute)
  • - Answer questions in front of the delegates.
  • - Present a prepared speech in front of the delegate assembly
  • - Topic : How has FFA impacted your life and how can you impact the FFA?
  • - Three minutes maximum
  • - A script or note cards may be used.

    TENTATIVE schedule for MN Region VI FFA Officer Interviews. Depending on the number of candidates and how interviews go the times may change.

    8:30 Candidates / delegates arrive - sign in

    9:00 - 9:30 Each candidate will introduce themselves to the delegates.

    9:30 - 11:30 Interview. Each candidate will stand before the delegate assembly and answer questions that have been put together by the delegates. The same questions will be asked of all candidates.

    11:30 - 12:00 Lunch, delegates & candidates mix

    12:00 - 1:00 Candidate Speeches (3 min. max)

    1:00 - 2:00 Delegates discuss and nominate candidates. Voting will be done by secret ballot with the Region Advisor presiding. No other persons except the Region Advisor and the delegates will be in the room during this process.

    2:00 New Officer Slate announced

    The new officer team will be officially installed at the MN Region VI FFA Banquet to be held on April 22nd in Tracy.

    Please read the following carefully. When you are fully convinced that, if elected, you will be able to carry out the role and responsibility of a Minnesota Region VI FFA Officer, then gather the signatures needed on the opposite side of this application .

    Region Officers will be REQUIRED to plan / attend / present -------

  • State POWER Conference in Willmar. (End of July, Beg. of August.. 2 days)
  • Greenhand Day 2002 (Early Sept., 2002)
  • Region C.O.W.--Chapter Officer Workshop. (Nov. 2002)
  • Region FFA Awards Banquet. (April 2003)
  • Selected Officers will serve on State Committees.
  • Attend chapter banquets upon request.
  • Drive to any planning or other meetings necessary

    Region Officers are also expected to -

  • Be active and outstanding members of their local FFA Chapter
  • Be able and willing to drive/travel to Region VI FFA Activities
  • Wear Official FFA Dress or COD when appropriate
  • Follow the FFA Code of Ethics
  • Understand there is limited financial reimbursement for expenses
  • Be on time
  • Write correspondence, reports, thank yous, ect. as needed
  • Be knowledgeable about Agricultural Education and the FFA
  • Be good will ambassadors in your school & community for the FFA
