Jim,
I have a 7C preamp. need to update electrolytic cans . Price list available
with schematic and corresponding part numbers? Power lamp sometimes bright
and sometimes dim. Rectifier?

In the Peerless archives we have outptut tranney designs for both the 8B and the 9 amps. For the 8B there were actually three designs penned by Peerless engineers for this project. There is a copy of intra-office memp regarding inductance tests with unbal DC for the trans. All three of these are nice designs...

For the record...let me state...to the best of my knowledge...and from what I can glean from the notes in the folders Peerless did *NOT* wind up (pardon the pun) building these for Marantz. But *if* the designs in the archives are representative of what Marantz did settle on...then it is indeed first rate designs for each the 8B and the 9.

Cores were designed very conservatively...flux densities for the 8B amp where down around 13K at full power @ 20 hz. They used a distributed air gap (stacking was done 8X8). Interleaving was fairly extensive...they used excellent dielectrics (polypropylene in this case)...overall they were just damned good designs.
