Some USENET Postings Regarding Test Equipment Manual Sources:

To: [email protected]

Here is a fairly new source for test equipment manuals:

Manual Merchant Linda Perkins
2475 Loring St.
San Diego, CA 92109
619/4909076 Voice
619/4909075
Fax [email protected]

I have very good luck obtaining H-P and other manuals form Linda. They are in good shape and the prices are very reasonable. They do not yet take charge cards but checks are welcome.

I have no association with Manual Merchants except for purchasing manuals.

Also consider going to the source ;-).

At least in the US you can use credit cards. We don't list prices, per se, but rather indicate when the price "steeper than usualy" i.e. >$100 in the US. You still have to call HP to place the order. I've bought manuals for my own hobby work and the prices are pleasantly affordable.

Please take no offense, but HP printed manuals are rather high.

I picked up a Micro Fiche Reader for $15 at a local salvage store and have been getting all of the manuals that I can in Micro Fiche form.

They are a little harder to read, but a printed manual for one scope was $250 in paper and $26 on Micro Fiche.

We still sell manuals for a lot of our "legacy" :-) equipment. The key is to know the part number for the desired manual.

There is a online tool that I've had running for a few months to help enable folks to determine these manual part numbers themselves. If you've used the HP Parts ID route in the past, this uses a tiny (but important) subset of the primary database they use.

http://www.tmo.hp.com/tmo/Db/manual/

(If you forget the URL, you can reach it from the Product Information link on our T&M homepage, http://www.hp.com/go/tmdir ).

Most (but not all) of the manuals for the instruments listed below come up. If the description comes back "Fiche, (old hardcopy part number)" then that documentation exists only as microfiche. If nothing comes up it's usually because we don't have copies anymore (e.g. 5300 series, I know from personal experience is out-of-print and fiche-less :-( ), though look at the notes on the search page also (especially the 2nd bullet; people keep trying!).

You can order specific part numbers through local country HP DIRECT telephone centers ((61/3) 890-0326 for Australia).
