Writing notes
...an infrequent journal about the perils, problems, and sometime joys of my writing life...
July 20, 2006

Finished a draft of a personal essay based, in part, on a trip my family took, with my brother John and his family (and for one day, Bryan) "to the country." The theme is order.

Went through the pawnshop story the past couple of days to work on revising it. Need to enter those revisions on the computer and print new draft. Perhaps this story won't completely suck.

Began a crime story for my character Eddie Pacer yesterday. Hope I can do something with it, but as you can see, I'm blogging instead of writing, so that can't be good.

Lately, have only written poems in my journal. These no one gets to read. But I suppose I haven't worked on other poems because I have been steadily doing prose the past few days. (Have been making my way through Madeleine L'Engle's collected poems. Watch Monk Notes for a review in the future.)

Was going to post a picture of my son with Mickey Mouse, but it is too large for this blog (maybe I'll post it on Monk Notes). I suppose I should write an essay about our trip to Florida, since it took up so much of our energy, but haven't gotten around to it. Don't know why. Not that I have anything more interesting to write about.
