The overarching objective of the Youth and Family Ministries Department is to strengthen the family as a discipling center. The family was established by divine creation as the fundamental human institution. It is the primary setting in which values are learned and the capacity for close relationships with God and with other human beings is developed. Youth and Family Ministries is a ministry of grace which acknowledges as normative the biblical teachings relating to the family and holds high God’s ideals for family living. At the same time, it brings an understanding of the brokenness experienced by individuals and families in a fallen world. Thus Youth and Family Ministries seeks to enable families to stretch toward divine ideals, while at the same time ever extending the good news of God’s saving grace and the promise of growth possible through the indwelling Spirit. Youth and Family Ministries focuses on people in relationship. It is concerned with the needs of married couples, parents and children, the family needs of singles, and all members of the wider family circle as they pass through life’s predictable stages and contend with unexpected changes in their lives. Youth and Family Ministries reinforces and encourages wholesome families. It helps individuals build and maintain strong family relationships because it recognizes that healthy Christian families make strong members for the kingdom of God and present a winsome witness to the community around them. Youth and Family Ministries promotes understanding, acceptance, and love within the family and in the larger family of God and fosters the reconciliation and healing between the generations promised in the Elijah message of Malachi 4:5, 6. It extends hope and support to those who have been injured and hurt by abuse, family dysfunction, and broken relationships. Youth and Family Ministries fosters competence in a variety of interpersonal skills needed in relationships. It provides growth opportunities through family life education and enrichment. The Fort Collins Seventh-day Adventist Church Promotes these ideals in the following individual and group ministries: Adventist Youth Ministries under the auspices of Pathfinders: Adventurers, eTrackers, Varsity and Master Guide; Men’s Ministries; New Beginnings/Alcoholics Anonymous; Prayer Warriors-Prayer Chain; and Women’s Ministries. New Beginnings/AA: A time is set, 7:00pm Tuesday evening for any one who has a addiction present or past, such as an alcohol problem to meet with other persons with the same problems and share in the triumphs of overcoming an addiction with the help of mutual support and a strong faith in a God Loves them. The group meets at the Fort Collins Seventh-day Adventist Church, 502 E. Pitkin Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Call 970-266-0331 for directions. Prayer Warriors-Prayer Chain: With the belief that God is vitally interested in the people on this earth, the group spends many hours in prayer each day on behalf of members and nonmembers alike. No human problem is too small for them to pray about. Call 970 635-9663 to place your prayer request. Women’s Ministries: Women meeting every Friday evening at 7:00pm, as a study group, who feel a need for a closer walk with the Lord Jesus Christ and for personal self improvement. At Fort Collins Seventh-day Adventist Church, the title Pathfinders is an umbrella term that describes young Adventist Youth from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. We do not use the term “Pathfinder” to describe a level of study a young person is a part of. Instead, we use the Adventist Youth umbrella term “Pathfinders” to denote a journey our young people are embarking on in their lives for Christ.
