Why should the Nazi's have been the last ones to make a statement regarding Jews and tattoos? I love my Star of David tattoo. It is much better than gold, which could be lost or stolen. And I believe G-d loves me, even if I choose to acknowledge my faith in a different way than the Old World dictated. Partaking in your faith can be displayed in a myriad of ways...

Thanks for writing. I apologize for not answering sooner.

The first and last statement regarding Jews and tattoos is what our Torah has to say. Just because the Nazis tattooed Jews against their will, we have to voluntarily get tattooed in order to say that "we had the last word"? Is it logical to violate a Torah precept for such a "lofty" purpose?

Wih regards to your "Star of David tattoo": Your intentions may have been good, but getting a tattoo, even a tattoo that conveys a Jewish theme, is a sin according to the Torah. We have to serve G-d the way that He told us to serve Him and not according to our own whims.

I also believe that G-d loves you. Even when we sin, G-d loves us, just as a father loves his son even though his son disobeys him. However, G-d does expect us to keep His commandments, as is mentioned numerous times in the Torah. What's more, just as a good son seeks to please his father and to fulfill his father's every wish, so should we seek to please our G-d and observe His commandments.

Our Torah is not Old World or old fashioned. It is the Book of Instruction that G-d gave to the Jewish people. Our Torah is applicable and relevant at all times and in all places. "The Torah of Your mouth is better for me than thousands of gold and silver"(Psalms 119:72).
