Subject: tattoos

Dear learned friend,
Whilst I lived as a secular Jewess and was involved in the world of rock and roll I
succumbed to the wildness of the times and got a tattoo on my back. Baruch
HaShem I was led home many many months ago and am now devoted to living as
the kind of person HaShem wants us to be.
Do I now further scar my body by getting rid of it or what should I do? This has
been a great worry to me since I read the Midrash on the subject. The laws of
Tznius of course mean that no one will ever see it , but that is not the point. I
know it is there. Please, your advice would be most gratefully appreciated.
Shalom and thank you in advance of your taking the time to answer me.
Hi H.,
I am not learned but I'll tell you what I know.
1) You do not have to have the tattoo removed.
2) If you want to you can have it removed according to the
following link:
http://www.ohr.org.il/ask/ask073.htm
And now for some friendly advice: Why get the tattoo removed if it's
always covered? Why undergo unnecessary procedures?
Don't feel bad about the tattoo. Feel good about yourself and
the path that you have chosen: "Where baalei t'shuva stand even the
complete Tzadikkim cannot stand."
