Shalom,

I found your site while looking at some Jewish sites.

I was born Jewish but drifted away. Recently I decided to return to Orthodox Judaism, but I have a small tattoo on my upper left arm. It never shows because I always wear long sleeves.

Am I require by Halacha to get it removed? People say I cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery with it.

Thank you,

A.

Hi A., Thanks for writing.

You do not have to have the tattoo removed. Having a tattoo does not prevent one from being buried in a Jewish cemetery.

All the best.
