Guess where this tropical and magical place is in Hawaii? Maui, of course. Where else would be so much of leis and beaches and luaus

On the first day I went snorkeling and saw some fish - most of them are probably located in the tropical section of the aquarium. You probably think Maui is hot at all times but actually it is quite cold in the evening so if you are going there you should have warm clothes with you.  A way to spend the warm afternoon is to go snorkeling. Of course you still need a lot of sunblock

The tropical flowers of Maui smell very good even though I am on medication and shouldn't be smelling them. I still do go really near them to get the most beautiful smell in all.

On Maui you can get many people away from the TV if you have planned a schedule like going surfing, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving or snuba diving. There is a difference between scuba and snuba. When you go snuba diving you don't take the air tank with you. When you go scuba diving you do but in snuba diving you leave the tank on the boat.

I am not allowed to go scuba or snuba diving because I have to be 12 before I can go. It is because when you are under 12 year of age, you have a soft place in your heart and when you come up you can get a heart attack. You can go snuba diving if you are over 8 but many people don't recommend it.

There are many  leis in Hawaii because there are so many flowers. If you get a tour guide they give you a free leis. They also can be located in stores. Most hula dancers wear them. Leis are a tradition in Hawaii. May first has been set a Lei Day.  Leis are made of many flowers, including bougainvillea. Bougainvillea could be a perfect flower for you - it is for people with a "black thumb". Just don't take too much care of it and it will thrive.

Every time it rains in Hawaii there  is always a bright, big and beautiful rainbow. It rains a lot in Iao valley and Haleakala mountain.

In the Maui Tropical Plantation there is a tour and they show you how to husk a coconut. The things you have to know about them is:

  • first drain the water out before drinking it
  • it may be cloudy and that mean don't drink it - there may be some bacteria in it
  • Coconut water is good if it is clear
  • If you have liver problems coconut water is good for you
If you see a yellowish coconuts do not do anything under them. They are self harvesting and they will do a lot of damage to a windshield  if you park your car or yourself underneath.

Did you know that the guava has five times more vitamin C than oranges? The inside of it is pink and a little sweet and sour but kind of good.

Sugarcane represents 30% of Hawaii's production. The sugar cane are grown and harvested on Hawaii and then sent to California to be processed in to the sugar that you see on the shelves in the shops.  In ancient times sugar was a treasure for only kings and queens.

I have gone on a dolphin trip but actually I saw whales do a double breaching (they jumped together up in the air). It is really rare for it to happen and a baby whale broke the record for tail slapping - 42 times in a row!    And a baby whale to do it  - it was totally cool.

Some hotels have a pool and you might want to swim. My hotel wasn't Embassy Suites but I went there to meet my friend Lisa whom I met in the Molokini trip. The hotel had two pools, a hot pod and a water slide and happy hour. My hotel only had two pools but no hot tub and no waterslide or happy hour. Lisa's hotel had warmed water in the pools.

Palms should be avoided if you see yellow coconuts - they will drop and can do damage.

Maui looks like two islands that are merged together. The high mountain on the right side of the island is called Haleakala, the left side has some nice valleys, like Iao Valley. Town of Kahului  is on the middle - it is in the middle of  the northern coast of Maui.
